Cauliflower Crust Pizza

So last night I tried something new! Cauliflower pizza!!

I have to say, it shows promise.

I tried this recipe that I found on Pinterest.

It turned out pretty well but there are a few things I will be doing differently next time. But before I get ahead of myself, let's start and step one.

First, I had to 'rice' a cup of cauliflower, which means to grate it (or chop it) very finely and cook it in the microwave till it is extremely soft.

I realized after I cooked my cup of cauliflower, that I was supposed to measure a cup of cooked cauliflower. My cup cooked down to less than half a cup, so I started grating once again!!

Of course, there were the inevitable sacrifices.

I don't think I ever use my grater without scraping myself up a bit in the process.

Then I mixed my cup of cooked, riced cauliflower with one cup of cheese and one egg. It didn't look very appealing, but I soldiered on! I held out hope!!

Then I pressed in out onto a oiled pizza pan.

Then I placed in a preheated oven and baked at 450* for ten minutes. The recipe said to bake for fifteen but I was glad I checked after ten cause it was already getting quite burned. Next time my plan is to try 375*.

Then I topped with sauce, Italian sausage, peppers, and mozzarella cheese. Then I placed it back in the oven on broil until everything was good and melted.

It got a little more burned under the broiler. But it was only on the outer edges, not the bottom.

See??

But it did stick to the pan a lot more than I expected it to. I used olive oil so I really didn't see that one coming. But maybe it was due to the high heat. I will definitely be trying again at a lower heat.

The taste was fantastic!! I couldn't taste cauliflower at all! I love cauliflower but even I thought cauliflower on pizza would be way weird!! But it was really good. It didn't taste like pizza crust but it was still really tasty! I finished the whole thing by myself.

Ever tried cauliflower crust pizza?? What is something new you have tried lately??

Zelda Groom's Cake

Oh my goodness. If anyone ever asks you to be in their wedding, and then to make the groom's cake, only say yes to one. Talk about stressed!!

But it got done!! The groom designed it and I brought it to life! I think he was very happy with it. When he saw it he whipped out his phone, started playing a dub-step version of the Zelda theme song and danced!! It was too funny!

I had a lot of set backs with this cake. Mostly with the sword. Everything else went just as planned but the stinking sword just would not work. But I eventually figured it out. Unfortunately, by the time I did figure it out, I did not have the time to add the detail that I wanted. I barley had time to get my dress and get to rehearsal (where I passed it along to someone who brought it to the wedding.)

Other than the sword I was very happy with how it turned out.

My favorite part of the whole cake!!
It is hard to see in these pics but the rock looked great! It had a grey and black marble effect going on and was lumpy and uneven. I was very happy with how it turned out. I will try to get better pictures from others. The lights were out when I got to sneak down and snap a few pictures so the light is coming from the window behind it. Not great for pictures.

The cake was confetti cake (the groom's favorite), with a butter cream icing (with sprinkles of course). The shield is a brownie covered in butter cream and fondant. The Sword is rice crispie treats with butter cream and fondant.

Goodbye Charlie

Oh yes. It happened.

Charlie's (or should I say Smoochie's) owner found us.

And oh how I cried.

We really didn't think he would have an owner looking for him since it looked like he had been on his own for so long. But it turns out he was a farm dog and outside all the time. Hence the ticks and burs and the fact that he looked like he hadn't been brushed in forever.

We asked the lady to prove that she was the owner. She told us to point our finger at him like it was a gun and yell "BANG!" We did and he dropped 'dead' every time. He was seriously the best dog ever.

But he is gone now. Back to life. =(

Watermelon Cake

I made this cake for our church picnic!

I wanted to get a picture of it once it was cut into. It was all pink/red and had chocolate chips throughout. But it sat out in the heat for a couple hours while we had our service. So by the time we cut into it, it was pretty much a melted mess. But it still tasted good! So no worries=)

The only thing I would have done differently?
MORE CHOCOLATE CHIPS!! haha! I hardly ever make an unflavored cake, so I would have either made it strawberry, or added more chocolate chips.

Nathan was working and so he didn't get to come to the picnic. He was upset that he didn't get any cake so I made three cupcakes, thinking that he could have some tomorrow too (or maybe I could even have one *gasp*).

They lasted all of 8 minutes. Well, I guess they must have been good!!=)
