Goodbye Charlie

Oh yes. It happened.

Charlie's (or should I say Smoochie's) owner found us.

And oh how I cried.

We really didn't think he would have an owner looking for him since it looked like he had been on his own for so long. But it turns out he was a farm dog and outside all the time. Hence the ticks and burs and the fact that he looked like he hadn't been brushed in forever.

We asked the lady to prove that she was the owner. She told us to point our finger at him like it was a gun and yell "BANG!" We did and he dropped 'dead' every time. He was seriously the best dog ever.

But he is gone now. Back to life. =(

Watermelon Cake

I made this cake for our church picnic!

I wanted to get a picture of it once it was cut into. It was all pink/red and had chocolate chips throughout. But it sat out in the heat for a couple hours while we had our service. So by the time we cut into it, it was pretty much a melted mess. But it still tasted good! So no worries=)

The only thing I would have done differently?
MORE CHOCOLATE CHIPS!! haha! I hardly ever make an unflavored cake, so I would have either made it strawberry, or added more chocolate chips.

Nathan was working and so he didn't get to come to the picnic. He was upset that he didn't get any cake so I made three cupcakes, thinking that he could have some tomorrow too (or maybe I could even have one *gasp*).

They lasted all of 8 minutes. Well, I guess they must have been good!!=)

Introducing Charlie!!

Well he was not planned but we are still very happy to have him in our family ;).

This is my new puppy Charlie!!

He is so sweet.

My husband works overnight some nights as a security guard. He found this little guy wondering around at five in the morning. The poor thing was so dirty and hungry.
So he called me up (at 5am) and asked what I was doing..... Oh ya know, just hunting elephants. Oh wait no I was sleeping! Yeah that's it.....
But he told me we had a new puppy so I went and picked him up. After two baths, two hours of brushing, and several dozen ticks later, this is the beauty we ended up with.

I am shocked at how well trained he already was. He has not gone potty in the house even once!! He just stands at the back door when he needs to go until we go open it. He doesn't jump up on us or lick us in the face (unless you say 'kisses') and I have only heard him bark once. He understands 'no' and is already starting to respond to his name. I am impressed!

All the good behavior made me think he was someone's lost puppy. So we have been looking for his owner. But I don't think we are going to find them. He was clearly on his own for a long time. And with no collar, I am inclined to think that he was someone's but he was intentionally abandoned. Their loss!!

I am not very familiar with dog breeds. What do you think he is??

St. Louis Zoo

Another 101 in 1001 Goal... The St. Louis Zoo!!

Oh too many pics to post, but these are some good ones.....

We had a great time!! =)

Cardinal's Game!!

For our anniversary we decided to have the same date we had for our first date, a St. Louis Cardinal's Game!! Wooo Hooo!!

We even had seats in the same section as we did on our first date. Or so we thought. Nathan ordered seats, but when we got there I had my doubts that is was the same section. He insisted it was so I dropped it. I thought they were better seats anyway!

By the fourth inning he randomly said, "I think you're right."

Yes, I know.

He had picked the section he was in the only other time he had been to a game. Oh well. Like I said, they were better seats. And it was still sweet of him to think of getting seats in the same section. A for effort!! =)

This was my favorite picture of the whole night!! He is such a goofy guy. (that's the best kind!)

We had a great time and some ice cream after. And of course our cake topper. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The frosting and fondant tasted a bit like freezer, but the cake still tasted chocolaty. It was just a little dry.

Anniversary Photo

One of my 101 in 1001 Goals is to take a picture every year on our anniversary holding a picture from last year. Well since it is our first anniversary, we took a picture with our favorite wedding picture.

It didn't turn out quite like I had hoped. We spent all day at the zoo and were pretty worn out by the time this picture was taken (at our favorite restaurant Maggiano's Little Italy). Plus our waiter (who took the picture) was not very friendly. He took this one and left. I would have preferred for him to try again but that's okay. It is still a really cute idea! And it has Nathan in it (twice!!) so it is still a really cute picture. =)

The lighting was romantic but not great for pictures. Even after some red eye removal I feel like our eyes are still kind of creepy. If anyone is good at photo shop please let me know!
But over all I am happy with it. This is the photo we will hold next year, and that picture will be so awesome! Can't wait!!

Crazy legs

Okay so I did this workout last weekend and all I can say is ouch.....

It was rough.

I did 15 reps of each exercise (15 on each side when applicable) and did each pair of exercises twice before moving on.

I think next time I will do 15 reps of each exercise and then do the whole workout for two rounds.

So anyway, if you don't want to be able to walk for a few days, give this a try

Be sure to warm up with active stretches (anything that gets blood pumping and your muscles warm).
Then do stationary stretching to cool down.
